Dr. Sperling completed her specialty training in Periodontics and Dental Implant Surgery at New York University (NYU), where she trained under the guidance of some of the world’s most esteemed and internationally recognized periodontists. Her academic achievements and deep passion for periodontology have been the cornerstone of her professional journey, leading her to further pursue the distinguished American Board of Periodontology Certification. 

Before her time at NYU, driven by a strong commitment to research and scientific advancement, Dr. Sperling pursued a Clinical Master’s Degree (MSc) in Perio-Pathology at Tel Aviv University, Israel, graduating with highest honors.

Dr. Sperling earned a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from Tel-Aviv University’s School of Dental Medicine in Israel. Following graduation, she practiced as a General Dentist for several years, gaining valuable clinical experience.

Dr. Sperling lives by the motto, “Knowledge is power and education is the premise of progress,” reflecting her unwavering dedication to lifelong learning and the advancement of others through education. She is actively engaged in continuing education and is a sought-after speaker, regularly lecturing on periodontics, oral health, and dental implants to fellow dental professionals, hygienists, and members of the community.

• Founder and Leader, “The Sperling-Zimvee Study Club”: a prestigious Dental Study Club, founded to foster collaboration and advanced learning among dentists, while focusing on continuing education and professional development.
• Former Part-Time Faculty Member, Department of Periodontics, Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) – Educated both undergraduate and postgraduate dental students, sharing her clinical expertise and academic insight.

Personal Life
Dr. Sperling resides in Vienna, Virginia, with her husband, their three amazing daughters, and three beloved cats. She enjoys spending quality time with her family, engaging in outdoor activities, running, and practicing high-intensity interval training (HIIT). Her favorite escapes include relaxing at the beach and discovering new travel destinations around the world.

Education and Training
Dr. Yu received her DDS degree from National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan and then she continued a 2-year general dentistry residency before her advanced specialty training in periodontics.

Dr. Yu has clinical, research and teaching experiences in dentistry and periodontics and she has contributed to more than 10 peer reviewed publications in the field of periodontics and implant dentistry. She is an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology.

Dr. Yu has been honored with numerous awards including the Richard J. Lazzara Award Fellowship and the Nevins BioHorizons Fellowship from the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation.

Academic and Leadership Roles
Dr. Yu worked as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Periodontics and Oral Medicine at the University of Michigan.

Personal Life
Dr. Yu has a baby daughter, she enjoys playing tennis and watching movies with her husband.
